Before I start my blog, I would just like to say
something for all of us in the furry fandom if I may... I think it is
safe to say that we all lost a dear friend who put on a show for all of
us for half his life, and by this, I'm referring to Richard Concepcion,
or Rapid T. Rabbit. He will be missed in the community, and although
this hedgehog didn't get to know him much, I still supported him in all
what he was doing and I just wished that I did say a proper goodbye to
him. RTR, you will be missed by all... this hedgehog included, even
though I didn't watch your shows.
Anyway, I will beginning my blog right now...
SUNDAY, August 13th - Now, since it's after my trip down
south, I will be telling you all that this blog has been saved on a USB
stick because of possible problems that I might've ran into when
crossing into USA and then crossing back into Canada, but no there
weren't any problems and I'm very glad about that. I may take another
vacation with my dad starting next weekend since I don't have a bus pass
this month - wanted to save my money for a trip down to Niagara Falls,
but I don't think that will happen anymore due to an incident that Nick
had while driving back home from somewhere, and this hedgehog doesn't
want to get involved with any future incidents. I will just have to wait
to see what Nick's parents have to say about this. I mean I want to try
to pull this off without any flaws, and I wanna be an in-car DJ for Nick
while we go there and back. I have many many dance songs in store for
that particular moment, but I don't want to get too far ahead of myself
here.
Saturday night, I began a torrent download using Qt
Transmission (it has been quite a while since I used it) and downloaded
Seasons 1 through 8 of Perfect Strangers. Don't know if Boomer knows
about the sitcom, but I was literally on their set in Los Angeles back
on October 14th, 1991... THANK YOU, STARLIGHT FOUNDATION!!! =D I gave
Larry Appleton (Mark-Linn Baker) and Balki Bartokomous (Bronson Pinchot)
a nice seal and they used it in a promo on ABC 22, well Channel 22.1 in
the Montreal / Plattsburgh / Burlington area.
And now for the grocery list that you guys were waiting
for after my big vacation in the south... get ready for this -
Goldfish (*NEW* nacho flavor), Cherry cola flavored
Pull'N'Peel Twizzlers, 2 boxes of chocolate covered cookies (the cashier
accidently overcharged me an extra $5, but it doesn't really matter), 2
cans of salt & vinegar flavored Pringles, peanut butter flavored mini
Ritz, MIO (flavored water enhancer), 2 6-pack of Diet Pepsi, 2 Monster
drinks (ULTRA BLUE), 3 round cheeses (1 has been eaten since 5:30pm).
Anyway, here's the rest of my vacation blogging...
My vacation blogging continues... and this time, a
LOOOONG one, Boomer and Ricochet may have to take turns on this one,
which is not a problem. I am happy when Ricochet also reads my blog to
you guys.
TUESDAY, August 1st - Getting ready to do that trip
though a portion of Ontario, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, West
Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, and then South Carolina. We're not
going to Wilmington and using US-17 to get to Myrtle Beach. Here's the
path we will be taking... Highway 20 (Quebec), Highway 401 (Ontario),
Highway 137 (Ontario, just a little bit of road that connects to the USA
side), Interstate 81 (NY, PA, MD, WV, VA), Interstate 64 (Virginia),
Interstate 95 (VA, NC, and a portion of SC), SC-38 (Exit 181 off I-95)
and then down to our destination. Got everyhing in the car already
before 5pm. I had to change the linens on the bed so I can sleep in new
linens tonight. Planning to not go to bed too late tonight so that I
could rise and shine at about 5am to be on the road by 6 or 6:30 at the
latest.
WEDNESDAY, August 2nd - I couldn't sleep at all, as hard
as I tried, so I just said the heck with it, and got up at 4:30am. More
while I'm on the road, maybe... I might just wanna enjoy the car ride
without writing in my journal, and while I am getting closer to
Mallorytown in Ontario, that is exactly what I am planning to do, I have
made my decision. to just listen to my walkman while traveling down to
Myrtle Beach. Wednesday night, my dad and I decided to try something new
this time, Chili's, and boy what we chose on the menu gave me a mental
orgasm. This Chili's was located in Staunton VA, and then after supper
we hopped back on I-81 and in less than a mile, we connected with I-64
to Richmond. First we stopped at the first rest area on I-64 to sleep in
the car, which was in the Staunton VA area, and that rest area was nice.
THURSDAY, August 3rd - Woke up at around 6 in the
morning, got out of the car for a good stretch. I helped my dad get the
blankets packed away so we could get on our way. I was listening to
Generations 102.3 while we were in to Crozet area to Charlottesville,
but it faded fast because it wasn't a powerful signal. 102.3 has great
music for the young and heart. I often find myself listening to it at
home on my Windows 10 using Flvto Radio. I tried to download it on
Windows 7, but oddly enough it's only for Windows 10. Anyway, when we
got closer to Richmond, we had to hop on VA-288 at Exit 175 off of I-64
to avoid any hassle in the Richmond area. We only had to do 32 miles on
VA-288, which wasn't that bad. I wanted to listen to Praise 104.7 before
it came in good. It's a powerful station (100kW), but we were too far
away from Crewe VA (where the station is located), and that did turn me
off a bit, so I just did some prescanning of the stations, I'd say about
every 15-30 mins., and this was while I was coming down from Canada. So,
yeah, now off to I-95... There was this 97.9 station came in after
Emporia VA, and it was stunting with Christmas music since July 29th,
but when I was in the area, 97.9 changed into a Top-40 station, geez.
Used to be called 'The Great 98' broadcasting oldies but goodies, oh how
the times a-changin'. North Carolina now and we stopped at the NC
welcome center for me go to the bathroom and to fill my Sonic cup, that
I brought down, with some nice water. When we got back on I-95, we
started with Exit 180, so that was exactly 180 miles to South Carolina.
At Exit 81, that was the exit for Wilmington NC, and at that point I
knew that we were getting closer to our destination. 96.5 BobFM was very
strong at that point, and even down to Exit 181 in SC, I was just
flabbergasted. 96.5 changed into 104.9, another BobFM, WYNA, when we
were in the Myrtle Beach area. First, the roads we took off of I-95.
SC-83, US-501, and then SC-22 to US-17. We needed to go to a place for
our rental contract, and then we came to Sand Dunes Resort. Good place,
yes, but without a telephone in the room, so we have to rely on the
laptop for places like restaurants and other things. I got lots of radio
stations over here due to being so close to the ocean. I think I caught
some Cuba or stations from The Bahamas (1540 from The Bahamas should
come in, I didn't think of checking that yet). What else can I say? My
dad was very disappointed with the fact that we had no phone in the
room, and also disappointed with the weather so far, but hey at least
SiriusXM works and 99.1 The Splash isn't filled with dead air. 99.1
isn't really my station since I am not in Montreal. Sonic 95.5 FM is no
longer broadcasting until I am back, and it might be a few days after I
come back to get back in the swing of things.
FRIDAY, August 4th - Woke up at 8:15 or around there,
didn't do much. Am dabbling in my blog right now, and wrote the rest of
Wednesday's blog, all of Thursday's blog and now with Friday's blog. I
am thinking that I will dabble in my blog every few days since I wanna
have the best time possible over here, and yes I may forget some things
as well. That's it for now at 10:45am, and the next time I will dabble
in here will be either Sunday or Monday. And remember, there won't be
very much on my blog section until I get back. kyrofox really looks
forward to my blogs, so this will be a very good surprise to him to hear
all about my vacation down south. It was a few hours later and I am
black to dabbling in it, so I guess it's all a matter of my mood and if
I want to dabble in it a few hours later during the day. Anyway, my dad
and I finished eating at a nice Chinese buffet, where I stuffed myself
mainly with seafood and mussels w/ melted cheese on top. I overstuffed
myself. I was glad when I exited the restaurant, lemme tell you that. I
was polite when I made my way to the door saying "Have a nice day." Now
back in the room writing in my blog and it's 4:55pm and I will make my
way down to the pool area in like an hour from now. Had a nice swim, and
the lazy river wasn't all that powerful, which kind of disappointed me.
I then dried off by the power of the wind and then I came up, got
dressed with my shoes, went down again to see how far the 99.1 FM signal
went along the beach. To my amazement, I noticed that the signal went
out to a few hotels that were facing the water, and that would be quite
a large audience if they did scan the FM dial for a very strong signal
and they came across to 99.1. There are 2 stations on 99.1 - 99.1 The
Splash (SiriusXM) and Foxy 99 (WZFX), a station playing urban music
between Fayetteville and Whiteville in Norfth Carolina, but Foxy 99 is
extremely weak in Myrtle Beach. Yes, on the beach I got them both when
The Splash was fading out, but then again Foxy 99 wasn't coming in all
that good either. Didn't really scan the FM dial due to the fact that I
was getting sand in my shoes... I know, miserable excuse, lol. Anyway,
getting late right now, gonna sign off for today. Might be an
interesting day on Saturday because well, I'll see what happens.
SATURDAY, August 5th - Woke up at 10:20am and I will see
what I do today. Friday was a windy day, though, and there were times
where there were crosswinds in the room because the patio door was
opened and I was trying to go out the front door, but all the stuff was
flying out the door like the paper towel, a plastic bag, and some
papers, lol. I had to retrieve them like a golden retriever. There is a
105.9 FM in the area, but even with the antenna being extended, my dad's
Sony radio couldn't pick it up all that well... it went in and out, in
and out. I wanted to leave it on 1st Wave on my transmitter for
tonight's Saturday Night Safety Dance, but I guess that's a no-can-do
because my dad likes to listen to the 'beautiful music station', Channel
69, which is Escape, so right now at 11:10am, The Splash is playing
that. 11:15am and I thought of something: I moved my blog from USB key
to laptop since I don't want to keep plugging and unplugging my USB key
everytime I wanna dabble in my blog like I am doing now. Yesterday
(Friday) was the day that I used the in-room big HDTV for my blogs via
HDMI wire, so no more torture for this hedgehog with just a small screen
whenever my dad is not using the TV for anything. I told you guys that
Friday was a windy day, right? Well, the waves were very big and very
choppy. Today it's not windy at all, so there's no white caps on the
waves, and I am happy for that. 99.1 has gone to the Saturday Night
Safety Dance at like 8:15 tonight, and will stay with the show until I
go to bed later on tonight. I won't be going to stay up until 4am
tomorrow morning because my dad is planning to go to either at Fiesta
Mexicana for a Mexican buffet or the Golden Corral.
SUNDAY, August 6th - Woke up and got out of bed by
9:40am, played a few games on my Sega Genesis emulator on the big screen
provided to us. When we came back from Golden Corral (the buffet wasn't
on anymore at Fiesta Mexicana), we went along Ocean Blvd. for a bit, but
when we came back and my dad decided to park, he accidently hit a parked
truck front bumper, and it was new. The driver of the truck saw it, and
that's where things started to get dicey a bit. The driver wanted a
driver's license, either that or pay him $2,200 for a new bumper, and el
cheapo dad here said "I'll write you a check for $500." What is this?!
It's his own damn fault that he didn't check him rear-view camera and
was busy talking with me. Back on Thursday when he wasn't pleased at all
what he chose as a hotel, this incident today just put the cherry on
top. It's like this, guys... Thursday afternoon you came to the base of
the dessert, and then at Golden Corral with the outstanding price my dad
had to pay (almost $40 for lunch and they had it as a supper buffet
starting at 11am) would be the whipped cream, and then the cherry on top
would be accidently hitting the truck. I think my dad will come back to
the room all pissed off. The most expensive thing on this trip would be
the $2,200 for the guy's truck bumper, and imagine that he asked me if
*I* was the driver. So yeah, a pretty eventful day today. When my dad
came back to the room, it amazed me that he wasn't pissed off.
MONDAY, August 7th - This is the day that we got a nice
thunderstorm, and after the thunderstorm, my dad and I went to Murrells
Inlet for the Dead Dog Saloon... reminded me of the Dead Dog Party, lol.
Anyway, am listening to the Doggy Radio podcast now, taking a few breaks
and pausing it every now and then to go on the patio since it's really
humid inside tonight.
TUESDAY, August 8th - Finished the podcast at 1:30 in the
morning. I better get to bed! More during the day. Woke up at 9:00 where
I thought it was 10:00. Sonic's in my underwear and he was inside my
underwear while I was sleeping keeping my *ahem* warm and cozy. I think
there's another Sonic of mine that just went rogue on me and I know that
Boomer and Ricochet knows what I'm talking about. While I am writing
this, Sonic's still inside my underwear. Anyway, on to the day... we
were hit with thunderstorm after thunderstorm for a few good hours
today, but I didn't really mind it because I love storms. For supper,
we'll be having Pizza Hut pizza.
WEDNESDAY, August 9th - Woke up and found Sonic inside my
underwear again. He really wants me to get back to Montreal soon so I
could use my 14-inch (well not 14-inch anymore since I amputated that
one) Sonic. I dunno what we will do today, my dad and I. We'll see what
the weather has in store for us, so if it's not as nice, we might as
well stay inside today. Later this afternoon, we'll be going to
Georgetown despite the cloudy conditions. So we did go to Georgetown and
found out that there is a 100-watt 105.7 WGEO in the area. That was the
Georgetown Information Station, talking with some songs mixed. After
when we came back, we stopped at the Dead Dog Saloon again, which I was
all for because Plan A was to go too Chili's right close to where out
hotel is, but since we were passing Murrells Inlet anyway, we decided to
go there instead since it was Happy Hour (between 4-6pm). Now I'm back
here and dabbling on my vacation blog yet again. I love writing and I
know that kyrofox (and a few others, along with you Boomer. Don't think
that Ricochet appreciates this though) will be really thrilled with this
blog!
THURSDAY, August 10th - Woke up nice and easy, made my
bed. At 11:07am, my father is just reading the timesharing contract
over. I am going to start to pack up slowly after lunch to get ready for
tomorrow morning. Around noon, there is a very evil-looking thunderstorm
heading inland from the ocean, which is weird because I have always seen
the weather from inland push out over the ocean. Today it's different,
don't know why. I will be marking down that I came out of the shower at
exactly 2:36pm feeling nice and clean, although I am without shampoo
over here. I had a nice shower a few days ago also, so don't think that
I went for a whole week without a shower... ewwww! Now, the reason I
wanted to put this down is because there's a very popular swimming spot
that I like to go and it's called Baie-des-Brises, and the time 2:36
makes me think of Route 236 that we have to take to get there from where
I live. This is not very important, but I'm sure it still makes kyrofox
happy that I have all this content that he will be listening to.
FRIDAY, August 11th - Now in the car, we left the hotel
at eight thirty AM. Sorry, my 'eight' key is not working on my secondary
laptop. Anyway, I decided to do some DJing for myself on the laptop. I
had to copy the music files from USB to my C drive because when I try to
overlap songs from the ending of songs to the starting of the next song
on the other VLC player, it loads up and while it loads, there's a
moment of silence with the 2 songs overlapping each other, and that is
not good for thie DJ. Anyway, we were greeted with miserable weather
most of our stay, and at the end, when we go back up north, there's
sun... go figure! Since I don't want to tell any lies in my blog, I will
tell you good people that I may switch from laptop to walkman at times.
By the way, right now we're at 2:30pm and we're heading to I-64 via
VA-two eighty-eight right now and we are under sun and clouds. Saturday
will tell a different story though, I checked the weather beforehand.
SATURDAY, August 12th - Last night, Friday night, we were
in the Hershey PA area when we stopped at the rest area at around 8:30.
Soon after it began to come down, first it began as a light storm, and
it was storm after storm after storm, but then from that it became a
severe thunderstorm. Thankfully there wasn't any hail or else water
would just start pouring into the car, and we were getting nice and
settled for the night. I finally went to sleep at 1:30 in the morning
this morning, Saturday morning. When we woke up around 6am, there was
heavy fog, and that was back at around mile marker eighty, and now we're
at mile marker 127 and we finally do see the sun burning the fog away,
I'm happy. The sun is not doing its job properly - mile marker 132 and
the heavy fog is back. What I am quite content about is the fact that my
big 20-inch Sonic plush toy is directly in the back of me sitting in the
back seat. The sun's back at mile marker 142 trying everything in its
power to fight the fog off. It's a pretty dicey situation when you think
about it. Mile marker 144 and we're finally in the sunshine! We're in
the mountains and we still see fog - Fog and sun. Going downhill on I-81
and my ears are popping. I think we're in the clear as the fog is
concerned. Anyway, more later. Mile marker 162 and I will see if I can
get 91.7 WVMW-FM on my walkman, although it's just 2kW. This time, from
Friday into Saturday I mostly am using my laptop back to Montreal,
although from Watertown NY to Montreal, it'll most likely be walkman
use. Change of plans... Coming in via I-87 instead. When I get home, I'm
going to fix some numbers from my main computer that this other laptop
failed to do miserably. So yes - I-88 to Albany and then I-87 up to Lake
George and then to Plattsburgh up to the Canadian border. Reason my dad
decided to do that because of the weather and the scenery. On Highway
401, there's nothing and just plain and on I-88, which is parallel to
the 401, we see mountains. At least the Interstate provides us with
mountains.
It's nearing 7pm on Sunday and I have fixed the
Interstate numbers from my other laptop to this laptop, and this is
where I am going to end my blog for this week.
Well, that does it for this looooong vacation blog.
Thanks for listening to Doggy Radio everyfur! And since I am back from
What The Fur and Romeo's back from Megaplex, I want to thank all of you
for listening to Romeo's stream. He needs all the support that he can
get from you guys. He's now on Live365, and apparently the URL for the
stream via stand-alone media player has not changed.
