The Positive Hedgehog for a very warm Monday evening

Pretty wild night tonight amidst all the AM static from the sky all around me as I took out my walkman while I was going to the convenient store because I was having a 'sweet tooth' moment, and I got what I needed, but before I got in the store, I was doing some DXing and there came this faint signal from Atlanta, which is 1225 miles south of here. I was amazed! The frequency: 750 AM with the call letters WSB. I need to do some more DXing like this on AM more often! I love hearing from far away stations. I am wondering if I can get 1540 from The Bahamas, but I was listening to 1540 some other night, and it was another station instead, which kind of sucks.

Anyway, after I got out of the store with my 2 bags of candy, I tried 750 WSB again, and it was still there, but the signal got too faint at one point and I lost it. I rolled down the dial to 630 AM where there used to be french content from Sherbrooke, east of here. There were 2 stations in 1 on 630 AM. One was like talk radio and the other one was country. All this while I was getting static left right and center, and the thunderstorm cells were well to the south into New York state and well to the west into Ontario. There was also a cell well to the northeast of here in my province of Quebec, that's east of North Bay and well to the north of Ottawa in Ontario. I turned my walkman off since I didn't want to run the chance to get struck my lightning. DXing in my own city is fun, I just don't do it enough.

'International Fireworks Competition by Loto-Quebec' on The Positive Hedgehog

Wow! Where do I start? I started at 7pm Wednesday evening and went to see if my Action Center friend, Melissa, was on the bus, but she wasn't. I continued to the subway and went to my 'fireworks' stop, and before the fireworks, like 2 hours before they started, I went to McDonald's and had 3 spicy crispy buffalo chicken poutines! Man, were they good! While I was eating, there was some police activity in the area. They were beginning to close the area down from having cars in the area (open to pedestrians only). When I finished, I began to walk to where I normally walk, but no, this time I thought of doing something special and I never did this before, but I turned back and turned to go up the street from McDonald's and that road is the main access point to the bridge over the small island that has the fireworks. Now, I didn't know this at the time, but I was going to be more closer to the fireworks than ever before, but I wasn't nervous. I wanted to see is the explosions would be louder or not.

Poutines, Wikipedia

Anyway, there was a lot more police activity on the bridge to prevent cars (and in this time and age - terrorism, although there's a pretty low risk of that over here) on. Also, they set up a checkpoint at the starting of the bridge to check bags. I was on the bridge and in position by 9:15 to 9:20pm. The temperature was falling just a bit, but jimmy crack corn and I don't care, lol. No, I really didn't care. For some odd reason, the fireworks were sounding a bit quieter while I was on the bridge, and I was closer to them as well. When the fireworks ended, I walked off the bridge. It took 20 minutes, but then again I will say it again, jimmy crack corn and I don't care. Got to the subway station at 11 and I am safely back home now.

WOW! WHAT A NIGHT!!! :D Stay tuned for more later on...

'GREAT SHOW!!!' on The Positive Hedgehog

It's now after 3am on Sunday morning when the rain is supposed to come at around 9, and we really need a good soaking over here since it's been bone dry for the last few weeks. Anyway, yeah since the title of this entry is 'GREAT SHOW!!!', I will tell you all the the Philippines stunned the heck out of this hedgehog! Very loud KABOOMS in the air, and it was even loud on the bridge this time. My walkman didn't stand a chance having maxxed out my volume during the event. Even the radio announcer for 105.7 FM was really astonished! That was *THE* show to see because out of every fireworks show that I saw up to Saturday night's show, this one was the VERY best. A few of them in the past scored a 70%, 80% and even 90%, but this one was the ONE - 110%!!! I don't think anything can beat that with the way the fireworks went and the very loud booms. Nearing the end, it was very smoky and I smelled a bit of the smoke. The musical selection was movie soundtracks, music from TV series, and even some video game music (Super Mario Bros. to name a few) was thrown in there. I heard that and Pokemon, which was cool.

Anyway, when I came back home, instead of coming right back home on the bus, I went to the bus stop closest to the convenient store and walked the rest of the way there. I got myself some Diet Pepsi and 2 bags of candy, the gummy and licorice kind. Now, while I was coming back home, I didn't get 750 AM from Atlanta, but I did get some call letters right away when I flipped the dial to 830 AM. WCRN! When I came home, I got on my computer and noticed that it was coming from Worcester in MA. News/Talk radio during the day, music during the night. I also got 790 AM, but try to listen to that when it's interfered with CJAD 800 AM, lol. 790 was coming in nice and strong, too, it looked like.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday looks like pretty good thunderstorms for the entire week ahead, so I better get ready. OH! This hedgehog now has Instagram so for those of you who find me pretty interesting, you all can find me if you type in "sonicfreak1977".

Anyway, since it is Sunday, I think I will leave it at that for this week since it will be a pretty lazy Sunday for me. Have a very good week everyone and stay tuned for next week! I also want to thank everyone who has been listening to The DJ Sonic Show (Now in >>>>>STEREO<<<<< since when I did some of my iVlog shows, my music was just in mono and I didn't like that for the people who was coming to my show). I also want to thank Boomer for helping me get set up with the 9550 port that he opened for my show, the creation of http://www.boomerthedog.com/sonicstream.html (which, in fact, he has to insert some more of my graphics that I gave him), and for Romeo Rabbit for his show since he's a great inspiration to everyone. I am trying to think of what more to say. Doggy Radio really is a great show! Every show on the Pawpet Broadcasting Network is a great show - a round of applause to you guys!!! Yeah, have a great week and I will stay tuned to those thunderstorms since I love thunderstorms.

This is The Positive Hedgehog with your host JaSonic (AND DJ Sonic on most Fridays and/or Saturdays) signing off for this week.

Addendum

Don't listen to me when I am saying the weather in my own city. The weather for this week is always changing, so what I said before to you about thunderstorms for the whole week ahead is FAKE NEWS!

------------------

Another addendum, if you please!

After supper on Sunday night, I went to the grocery store to get some more Diet Pepsi, since I want to be kept alert during the night, and some rice pudding. I still have half of a bag of gummy candy to munch on during my furry programming tonight, but this is not what I wanted to talk about.

1480 CKAN from Newmarket, Ontario. Now a defunct radio station. No more AM radio stations it seems, or less of them since more and more stations are heading to FM. THEY WANT TO BE IN STEREO!!! And I can understand the want in that because I guess if they get kept on AM, they're in mono and they will get left out. You know what should go on AM? Talk radio, or 24 hours 7 days a week news stations. So here I am, listening to 1480, all the way home, and it was coming in as good as it could, only to know that it wasn't CKAN that I was listening to. I don't know where that 1480 was coming from, but it's like it was coming in faintly, but then there wasn't any normal AM static at all in the background, which, to me, was weird.

Anyway, yeah enough from me. That sign off that I first put before these 2 addendums will be kept in place right after these 2 bonus entries.
